The milestones of your GitLab and GitHub projects, against the original plan.

01

What your forge does not tell you

A GitLab or GitHub milestone knows how many issues are open and when it is due. It does not keep the plan: a postponed due date replaces the previous one, and the question “how far have we slipped, and since when?” no longer has an answer.

Jalon keeps that memory. You set your milestones, freeze a baseline, and every gap is then read against it — while code and issues stay on your forge.

02

How Jalon goes about it

Milestones set in Jalon

Each milestone has a start, an end and a lane. You move it on the roadmap with the mouse or the keyboard, and the board, tree and Gantt follow.

GitLab and GitHub milestones import in one step, with their issues as tasks already linked. The import is a copy: the reference plan stays the one you freeze here, not the forge’s current due date.

Forge issues linked to tasks

Connect GitLab or GitHub with a token from the Organisation page, pick the projects to follow, then link an issue to one of the milestone’s tasks: its chip shows on all four screens.

A baseline that stays put

A snapshot records, for each milestone, its name, lane, status, dates and progress. It is never edited afterwards: it is the reference.

03

What you read next

The Tracking screen compares each milestone with the baseline: start, end, progress, status and lane. Every gap is signed, to tell a delay from an advance, and the projected end date sits next to it.

On the forge side, the Metrics screen shows the ticket flow and the delivery report: what was planned, against what was delivered.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to leave GitLab or GitHub?

No. Code, issues and merge requests stay on your forge. Jalon reads what it needs with the token you give it, and you can revoke it at any time.

Are the forge’s milestones imported?

Yes, from the Organisation page: tick the milestones of the projects you follow and choose the lane that receives them. Each one becomes a dated milestone, and its issues become tasks linked to their ticket, with nothing typed twice.

It is a one-time copy. The milestone is yours afterwards: a due date postponed on the forge does not move it silently, and a milestone already imported is never duplicated.

Is the connector part of the Free plan?

No. The Free plan covers the roadmap, tracking and snapshots for one organisation of three members. The forge connector comes with the Pro plan, at 7 € per member per month.
